BYD $BY6.F is slowly approaching the North American backyard. According to the Globe and Mail, it’s working on a network of roughly 20 dealerships in Canada — starting in the Greater Toronto Area, then Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary — and is using the new Canadian quota of 49,000 Chinese electric vehicles per year with a reduced tariff of 6.1% instead of the original 100%.

Chinese automakers are heading to the US – and in my view this is a topic that could significantly shake up the American EV market in the coming years.
Currently imports are blocked by a 100% tariff, but if brands like BYD $BY6.F , Geely (Zeekr, Lynk & Co) or others were to build factories directly in the US, that barrier would effectively fall. President Trump has already...

I think this will have a positive impact on consumers. Traditional automakers will be in trouble. They really haven't had it easy over the past few years. They've simply fallen behind on technology, and now they're paying the price with low margins just to remain at least somewhat competitive.

For the Asian market I ended up opening positions in CEBL.DE; it’s an ETF focused on the region.
BYD last month significantly cut the prices of its cars, sparking a price war in China. The company has faced criticism from regulators, which may pose a problem. Still, I think it was a great move and BYD is starting to get ahead of Tesla. If the stock continues to fall, I'll definitely buy in.
What do you think of the $BY6.Fstrategy ?

If all goes well, the company will probably grow, but when politics and other companies get involved, it could be a problem.

There's a lot of interesting stuff, I'll join the others, it depends on what one is looking at. I've been looking at $ORCL lately, unfortunately I didn't buy it, which literally pisses me off. 🙈 Although I also have a portfolio at its peak because I guess you can't do it any other way if you're in tech, but somehow I feel like I've been too reserved this year, too.....🙈 I don't know Trump at all and I feel like the world situation changes too often and you don't know where you stand.

I'd probably go with BYD or $RIVN right now, too. Both car companies are doing great and still have huge potential.
Shares of $BY6.F fell about 8% yesterday in response to the announcement of widespread discounts on electric vehicles. However, this strikes me as positive news and I would have expected more upside. I bought BYD shares recently and will be overbought if their price continues to fall.
What do you think of the discounts? Do you have $BY6.Fstock in your portfolio?

BYD is a great company and currently it still doesn't seem expensive to me and I may increase my position.

I only have BYD for now, but I'd definitely like to add some Chinese stocks.
Recently, Chinese stocks have also plunged because of Trump. Yesterday they were up, but even so, over the last month, for example, $BABAhas lost over 20%, $NIO about 25% and $JD about 13%. I'm not currently buying much Chinese stocks, but I still have $BY6.F on my watchlist , which I would like to buy at a lower price.
Are you buying Chinese stocks now or do you have some on...

For me, China is a risk because of the politics and the current situation isn't ideal either, so I won't be buying.

Lately, I've been thinking about including some Chinese car company stocks in my portfolio. As far as electric cars are concerned, China is definitely leading the way at the moment and I think the demand for them will get bigger and bigger. So far, I'm probably most interested in $BY6.F because it could be a big competitor to Tesla.
Do you have any Chinese car stocks in your...

I'm thinking about buying, but my broker eToro only offers 01211.HK. Is that the same as the ticker mentioned above, just traded in HK dollars? My account is in US dollars, so will I be charged a conversion fee?
