So far, it's more just growth, but as my portfolio gets bigger, I'm starting to look at dividends. I still don't have enough to see any dividend result, but of course, you have to start sometime. 😃

As a colleague wrote below, even if he puts it on ice cream in the beginning, that's a good start

If I'm building a portfolio from the ground up, I think it should have a great balance of both. A little bit of that speculative department shouldn't be missing either.

That's ideal for me, I just started out focusing mainly on the growth and now I want to balance it more with divi :)

In the beginning it is not bad, but then one has to think and take into account a number of factors such as the time for which he wants to invest, his situation, how much...

Exactly, the best option is a mix :) I look at the share price trend, of course, but also the dividend, especially for dividend stocks.

I have it the same way now :)

I'm trying to do both, dividends are nice, with my capital I can get one ice cream out of it every month, but you have to start somewhere.

Well, you're just like me, but you have to earn your money for that ice cream. Do you have a goal for how many ice creams you should make?

Not yet, but in the future it will cover the cost of a decent life in retirement, so about 40 000 CZK per month. That's a long way off, but as they say, the sooner the better.

For ice cream it's 1000 pcs, but we go for a scoop for 40 CZK... :)

Well, that's a very nice recalculation. 👍 It'll be a nice beginning story then. Personally, I try to show this too to people who have doubts or just say, I'm poor, always will be and can't afford to invest. I show them the beginnings and to this day the nice feeling of even just a dollar that just comes in. There's a lot that can be done with this process and change. I know my stuff, it's for another story and a longer story, but I fell into bankruptcy once (business, misplaced trust in a partner) and yet, even on the bare minimum I was able to live. You just have to re-evaluate your life until the crown and as I also said, it's not about not living, I could afford to shop, eat enough and go on vacation, but it's those everyday little things, there if you focus on that, then you can manage everything. I got a little carried away, 🤦‍♂️ but I mean keep it up and great job.

Thanks for that breakdown, I only gave the ice cream as an example but now that I look at it, it's a pretty good goal. I average 256 CZK a month in dividends so that's enough for a couple of ice creams. I'm sure it's great to teach people like this so they get used to investing and also have some amount per month that they can reinvest. As a student, I'm happy for every extra penny I get.
