Another giga acquisition on the way? Shares of Broadcom $AVGO-1.3% and VMware $VMW-5.0% are soaring after the European Commission approved the $61 billion merger.

The European Antitrust Commission first warned that VMware's acquisition by US chipmaker Broadcom would harm competition in the global market for FC HB), a type of storage adapter.

However, the European Commission said that Broadcom had offered measures to alleviate these concerns. In particular, the Californian company promised to provide comprehensive access and interoperability commitments to Marvell Technology Group, its closest competitor, and any future competitor.

Thanks for the info, I don't have either stock in my portfolio, but I will definitely take a closer look at $AVGO-1.3%.

This has been a problem with every major acquisition lately, and I kind of get it. Fortunately, after Microsoft with ATVI, it will work out here too. They still have a few hurdles in there way though.
