When to sell a portfolio winner? Hold like Buffett, or realize the gains?

Personally, I think that if an investor has a stock in their portfolio that serves as the main source of growth, they should hold it as long as possible—until its valuation becomes unreasonable (for example, like with $PLTR) and as long as growth doesn't slow or the company's fundamentals don't deteriorate. From my portfolio, I would therefore want to hold the shares of $AMD, $SOFI and $META for as long as possible.

Like Buffett, but I trimmed AJG because it wasn't doing well and APH because it was doing well.

I basically agree with you, but I'll admit this is exactly the part of investing I'm weakest at.

For example, this year I sold AppLovin, which made me a whopping 400% profit, but if I hadn't sold it it would have been double that — and that can only be called a mistake, even though it wasn't so clear-cut because there were accusations of all sorts and a big temporary drop as a result.😉 You can also look at it from the perspective of what I bought with that money afterward and how that's performing.

Agreed. I’m doing the same. I sold two-thirds of Palantir and kept one-third. I’m holding AMD and META and will continue to hold them.

I'm the same as Radek — dividend stocks forever, and then there's a smaller but more interesting part of my portfolio that changes as often as you change socks in the summer. 😂

In my portfolio I have dividend stocks that are growing and provide me with a regular income. I definitely want to hold these stocks for decades, and it’s not a problem for me.
