Hi, I’d like to ask your opinion on $SBUX.

I’ve held the stock for about 3 years and have practically seen no profit. Only now, after a long time, have I finally come out of a loss to break-even / a slight gain. Honestly, I’m getting tired of holding it — it feels like the capital is kind of dead there. I could find more interesting picks to move it into, and generally I’m starting to think this sector is becoming uninteresting.

Do you own $SBUX? Have you sold it?

I left the consumer sector for exactly this reason. Apart from a few bright exceptions like $WMT or $COST, which are practically valued like big tech, it's more or less boring there for several years for a meager 2.5% dividend. Moreover, these companies have had problems since COVID — plus shifting consumer preferences, competition, wage pressure, squeezed margins, and ESG/woke nonsense.

It's becoming a value stock and no extreme growth is likely to come. If you want higher performance, you'll have to choose different stocks.

When it was 110+ some time ago, that was an obvious sell 😉

It's more about why you have it in your portfolio… after all, not everything has to be a growth stock — you can also hold some steadier, more defensive shares with a small dividend… I personally find undervalued REITs better than SBUX, but we all play it differently 😉

I agree with you — I’d sell it too and move the money into, say, $NFLX.
