The 10 largest companies in the S&P 500:
1) Apple $AAPL+2.2% - 7.4%
2) Microsoft $MSFT+0.7% - 6.7%
3) Google $GOOG+1.7% - 3.8%
4) Amazon $AMZN+3.2% - 3.1%
5) NVDIA $NVDA+3.3% - 2.6%
6) Berkshire Hathaway $BRK-B+0.5% - 1.7%
7) Tesla $TSLA+0.0% - 1.7%
8) META $META+0.6% - 1.6%
9) Exxon Mobil $XOM+0.2% - 1.3%
10) United Health Group $UNH+1.9% - 1.3%
Leaving out the six. ...it makes me wonder how it's all based on tech companies... :)
Either it's just in my bubble, but I feel like no one+0.2%is talking about $XOM+0.2%despite how big of a company it is.
Never heard of this company :)
Actually, I don't either, apart from some ranking of the companies with the most employees.
There are a total of 500 companies in the index, but only the top 10 have an overall weighting of more than 31%. Diversification is there, and if you notice, if the Big 5 are growing, the whole market is behaving accordingly. It's not always the case, but there are some similarities. If $AAPL+2.2% grows by 2%, that really has a significant impact.
Nothing surprising. It'll be interesting to see if he stays in the top 10 for another 15 years, maybe.
Probably not. 😊
I never realized that $UNH+1.9% was so freaking huge
That's true, I never realized it either 😅
I was surprised too :)
I'm building a bit on my post yesterday to show how much influence Apple and Microsoft stocks have on the entire index.
I watched it, and I have to say, I was surprised.
