FuboTV: From outsider to potential streaming leader

FuboTV $FUBO went through a rough patch in 2024, but thanks to a strategic alliance with Hulu+ Live TV (Disney), the tables have turned in 2025. The stock has more than doubled in value, and the company is poised to become a stable and strong investment for the future.

Key changes that have turned the tide:

The merger with Disney (Hulu+ Live TV):

Combined customer base of 6.2 million subscribers

Disney acquires 70% stake in the merged FuboTV

Cancellation of competing Venu (Fox, Warner Bros., Disney)

Reason for significance:

Disney brings capital, expertise, and market confidence. Combining $FUBOsports and entertainment (Hulu) helps diversify content and offset seasonal fluctuations.

Financial injection and stability:

$220 million. USD 220 million from media partners

145 million. USD 145 million loan from Disney

FuboTV had only $161m at the end of 2024. USD

Reason for significance:

The new funds address the cash shortage and allow the company to grow, innovate and increase marketing spend.

Eliminate competition and legal risks

Elimination of Venu = elimination of key competitive threat

Resolve antitrust litigation

Reason for importance:

$FUBO avoided potential market destruction and instead transformed competitors into partners.

Stock development and market position:

- Current price: approximately $2.79

- Market capitalization: approx. USD 956 million

- 2025 YTD growth: more than +100%

Reason for significance:

Shares of $FUBO are cheap in terms of market capitalization given the size of the new group. Re-rating of valuation is possible if stability and earnings growth are confirmed.

$FUBO may be an interesting speculative investment with long-term potential. The merger with Disney is a game changer, but investors need to be patient - a return to loss making is still possible, albeit less likely.

Interesting business and the stock is rising really nicely, but I'd rather invest in $DIS.

For me, it's very much speculation and I wouldn't invest in it. The stock may have gone up quickly, but unfortunately that means nothing and the company could very well be losing money again.
